I saw a news item that the Governor of Texas, himself paralyzed from the waist down and subject to barriers common to the disabled, has placed barriers in waterways south of Texas to prevent immigrants from crossing into the State of Texas. There is some irony in his actions. While he was allowed to continue with his life via surgery, the Governor is preventing immigrants from having an opportunity to improve their lives.
Barriers to stop the progress of people. What a concept. What an idea. If only Native Americans, had placed barriers along the shores to prevent Europeans from settling into this country years ago. Then possibly maybe the annihilation of the Native American people would not have happened or been at least delayed? Maybe African's would not have been enslaved in these United States? Maybe there would not have been a Civil War? No Confederate states would have been created and no lingering thoughts and beliefs of Confederate values. The power of barriers. Yes, barriers can change the course of history. Maybe that is the Governor's concern. To maintain the dominance of European American culture in these United States and in his state of Texas, he has decided to create barriers.
The message of the governor is clear to the immigrants. "You are not welcomed in Texas!" We hear you Governor, very clearly. You have enunciated the message very well. Well, here is a message for you Governor from a higher authority.
Psalm 37:11-13 The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity. The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance. But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming. (New Living Translation)
